Cameron Diaz And Acne

The stereotype that may come to mind when acne is mentioned is a lone nerdy teenager at the bottom of the social heap in high school. But in real life, acne affects everyone, including celebrities in their thirties. Such a celebrity who has had a very public struggle with acne is Cameron Diaz.

Cameron Diaz is an American model and actress whose best known roles are in the movies The Mask, My Best Friend’s Wedding, There’s Something about Mary, the Shrek series and Charlies’ Angels: Full Throttle.

In 2004, a column written by Phillip Swann, a nationally recognized expert on HD TV technology, put Cameron Diaz at the top of the list of celebrities whose appearance suffers on HD TV. In that column, “Swanni’s Best and Worst of 2004”, he wrote:

The column was picked up by news outlets and became widely talked about over the internet.

Cameron Diaz spoke candidly with Self magazine (published in Dec 2006). She talks about stopping smoking, which has no doubt improved her facial appearance. Cameron Diaz said, “I just decided I was done…it’s even more disgusting to me [now that she's stopped]. It makes no sense to me. I can’t believe I ever smoked”. On aging, Cameron Diaz mentions that she is going to try to age gracefully rather than fight aging. Facials on a routine basis are an important part of her acne and aging defense.

In a different interview, Cameron Diaz spoke of the importance of drinking water. She told Realbeauty.com’s Celebrity Beauty blogger that she felt good hydration kept her acne “at bay” and makes her skin look “refreshed and youthful”.

She is one of only three actresses who have been paid $20 million for making a movie (the other two are Julia Roberts and Reese Witherspoon). Cameron Diaz will be appearing in the upcoming films What happens in Vegas…, The Box, and My Sister’s Keeper. While her star is definitely on the rise, and maybe Cameron Diaz has “arrived”, but she’s not so different than everyone else, at least when it comes to acne.
